    The Legend of Button-Eyed Bubba

A few years had passed since the arrival of Bourbon Voo Doo. Titi became distressed and frustrated with herself  from her arts & crafts projects. She would spend hours and hours creating something, only to feel disappointed and throw it away in the trash.

She would cry herself to sleep at night because she never felt good enough like the other artists in the city. She believed there was nothing special about her.

Very late one night after crying on her pillow, she heard something moving and stumbling around in the dark. She pulled the string on her nigh lamp to reveal another voo doo doll walking around her room. He was adorable, but was clearly having trouble seeing where he was going.

Titi slipped out of bed and approached the little guy. She noticed something unusual about him. He was missing an eye entirely.

He said to her, "Hi! My name is Bubba! I'm sorry I woke you... I tried to be quiet but I can't see very well. I only have one eye."

"Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that. Here, let me help you."

She placed him next to Bourbon on her night stand, "There you go. I'm not sure what to do about your eye, but I will figure something out."

The next day, Titi visited the same voo doo shop where the elderly lady that had given her the original voo doo doll a few years earlier, hoping she could help her new friend.

The shop looks dark, eerie and quiet. As she opens the door, bells chime to signal her entrance. Moments later, the same elderly lady walks out slowly. As she makes eye contact with the young gal, her gloomy eyes light up and she smiles.

"I figured I'd see you eventually," she said.

Titi smiled shyly, looking around at all the unusual object around the shop. "I was wondering if you could help me. Well, not me, but my friend."

Grabbing her black leather backpack, Titi carefully pulls out Bubba and places him on the counter.

"He can't see very well. Is there anything we can do to improve his sight?"

"Hmmm... Yes, I have seen this once before. It's not easy. Not just anyone can do it. In fact, not even I can do this for you. This is something you will have to do entirely on your own. I can only give you the instructions because if I help you or touch any of the materials I will contaminate the process with my energy.

You see, darling. Your energy is pure. If you desire to help your friend, you are doing do out of the love in your heart."

The elderly woman scribbles some notes with an old feathered fountain pen, hands it to Titi and says, "You don't have much time. You have until the next full moon."

Titi looks at the notes, "One strand of a horse hair from a black stallion, one sterling silver needle, lavender essential oil, a button from a priest's collar and three white candles with the Virgin Mary."

Confused but determined to help her friend, Titi prepares for the journey to seek out the materials needed to perform the ritual.
